Due to the introduction of Recognised Standard 11, the new Standard for meeting health and safety obligations in the mining industry in Queensland, there have been changes to the way workers are to be inducted into the industry.
ABSC Group has become a member of the Resources RTO Association Inc (RRTO) and is proud to announce we will be delivering a range of exciting new induction programs which have been developed by the association to meet the requirements of Standard 11.
The new programs will provide both experienced and inexperienced workers with pathways from which they can enter the industry, whilst also addressing processes such as refresher training and recognised prior learning.
The programs are;
- RRTO Induction - Surface Operations - 3 days
- Underground Operations - 1 additional day
- RRTO Induction - RPL - 1 day
At the completion of the programs a wallet size ID card containing the trainee’s photo will be issued indicating the program type and date completed.
After participants complete onsite assessment where a range of site evidence is collected Statements of Attainment can be issued against the Standard 11 competencies where required.

ABSC Group is pleased to announce the resigning of our contract with KCGM to provide training services and for the ongoing license of tutis assessment management functionality.
Over the past 18 months ABSC Group have worked closely with the KCGM training team to develop truly customised / contextualised training and assessment material.
Peter Canny (KCGM Senior Training Coordinator Mineral Processing) says that; “the input and assistance by ABSC Group in the development of training and assessment material for our leadership development program has been invaluable”. Peter said “we have enrolled all supervisors 2IC’s and rising stars into the Certificate IV in Minerals Processing and ABSC Group commenced delivery last August and we are extremely happy with the results so far”.
Peter is also excited with the deployment of tútis. KCGM have been licensing an intranet based system from ABSC and have had critical input into some of the features now available in tútis.
The assessment management system delivers fully customised / contextualised assessment tools which pass through a rigorous validation process. The skills / task based assessments have been developed to map directly with our operating procedures which deliver to us a dual service in as much as we are able to evidence assessment against our procedures and also with the system generated annual review we meet all of our compliance obligations.
tútis will provide the most rigorous assessment management efficiently and cost effectively – Peter says.
